About Draycott Community Shop
Our Story
At The Draycott Community Shop, we believe in the power of community.
Our shop serves as a gathering place for locals, where neighbours meet and support one another.
We are dedicated to providing high-quality products while promoting local businesses across Cheddar Valley.
We are owned by the community and are run predominately by volunteers from members of the local neighbourhood and are a not-for-private profit society
Early Days
In 2019 the shop owner was leaving and the local community gathered to take over the management of the shop to secure its future in the village.
A full refurbishment programme was undertaken to sympathetically modernise the premises. Many local residents provided time and materials free of charge to achieve our goal.
Trailer Days!
During the refurbishment it was felt important that there was a continued provision of a shop to provide daily essentials such as bread, milk and newspapers etc. This was facilitated from the back of a trailer supplied by a local resident.
Today
We are a thriving business supporting our local population, and where possible, other local organisations within our thriving and friendly community
